Early Childhood Overview
Welcome to Smyrna School District's Early Childhood Program!
We will begin accepting requests for enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year on February 1st, 2024! This includes requests for new 3 year olds and new 4 year olds.
Three steps to submit your request for enrollment:
- Complete the Request for Enrollment Form and Registration Form by clicking on each form below, or stop by North Smyrna Elementary's Main Office to pick up paper copies to fill out. Submit to the Early Childhood Office.
2. Gather your child's birth certificate, a parent/guardian’s photo ID, and 2 proofs of residency in the Smyrna School District (Mortgage Statement, Deed, Sales Agreement, or signed Lease/Rental Agreement AND one of the following:Utility Bill [Electric, Gas, Water, Cable], Auto Registration, or Driver's License with Current Address. If you are living with family or friends, let Carissa Stevens know - there may be different requirements depending on the situation.) Submit to the Early Childhood Office.
3. Click on the appropriate link below to complete two developmental screenings online, or contact the Early Childhood Office for paper copies to fill out.
If your child is 34 months old or less, complete the screenings at this link:
Full submissions are required for the child to be added to the consideration list for next school year. This includes all 3 steps described above.
Once a submission is received in full:
Results of the developmental screenings will be emailed to families. If concerns are revealed through the developmental screenings, the Early Childhood Office will contact the family to discuss the concerns and recommended next steps.
If no concerns are revealed, families of children age-eligible for the 3 year old program will be notified by the end of July 2023, of whether or not their child has been invited to attend the Early Childhood Program next school year.
Generally, for the 4 year old program, there are limited to no spots available. All 4 year old submissions will be placed on a waiting list, and families will be notified if a spot becomes available.
*Current children attending the 3 year old program as a typically developing student do NOT need to complete any of the steps listed above, and will automatically be on the consideration list for enrollment for next school year.
At any time during the school year or summer, if your child has identified delays, or if you suspect delays in their development (communication, motor, cognitive, social-emotional, and/or adaptive behavioral skills), please complete the developmental screenings online.
Contact Carissa Stevens with any thoughts or questions you may have.
