• Dr. SeitzDr. Christine Seitz is the Principal at Sunnyside Elementary School. She is a Delaware native, graduating from Dover High School in 1997. Dr. Seitz is coming to Sunnyside with a wide range of experiences. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2005, a Master of Education degree in Reading in 2013, and a Doctor of Education degree in Innovation and Leadership in 2019. 

    Dr. Seitz has taught a variety of grade levels at the elementary level for the first 14 ½ years of her career. During this time, she earned the distinction of being named W.B. Simpson Elementary School's "Teacher of the Year" for the 2013-2014 school year. She also worked at the school, district and state level, in all content areas, for school improvement.

    Then in January of 2020, she accepted an Assistant Principal position at Smyrna Middle School, where she remained for 3 ½ years. During her time as an Assistant Principal, Dr. Seitz was nominated for the Delaware Assistant Principal Academy through the Governor's Institute for School Leadership, where she completed the program in 2022. Dr. Seitz is excited to start year 19 as the Principal at Sunnyside.

    Dr. Seitz is committed to the school's motto of "Every Child, Every Classroom, Every Day". She is passionate about creating a strong, positive partnership between the school, families, and the community.  At Sunnyside, we pride ourselves on being a shining example of positive behavior and model the Smyrna School District's core values on a daily basis, which are Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Integrity and Perseverance.
