The Eyes and the Impossible (by Dave Eggers) - Johannes is a free dog who roams an urban park and keeps guard of everything going on, reporting back to his animal friends. When big changes start to happen, the animals need to band together and think creatively to try and save the wonderful life they know. (fantasy)
Million Dollar Race (by Matthew Ross Smith) - Fans of track and running will love this book about an awesome sprinter who is stuck in a crazy predicament which makes him ineligible for a crucial race. (realistic fiction)
Whispering Pines (by Heidi Lang) - Suspense drives this scary story as a young girl is realizing the shocking demise of many young people around her, and that they are meeting their fate in the dark woods near her home. (horror)
Worser (by Jennifer Ziegler) - This great book is about a kid who is bullied constantly, and now deals with his mom having a stroke and its aftermath. He gets into a habit of visiting a local bookstore and arranges for a creative writing group of his peers to meet there. Amazing feel-good “nerd” story! (realistic fiction)
